Morna Rutherford

Morna joined Student Services in 2011 and works three days a week during semesters only.

She has a longstanding career in the areas of health and healthcare. Morna graduated from Surrey University with a BSc Hons in Human Biology before going on to train as a registered nurse at St George’s Hospital, London. She then moved into the field of Health Promotion/Education, developing an interest in health related behaviour change with a particular focus on mental health promotion. Morna has an MSc in Health Education from Edinburgh University she has trained in counselling, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and has a post graduate certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT) from Dundee University

Whilst using CBT techniques as a base for her work, Morna is eclectic in approach and with a background in health is particularly interested in the link between mind and body and the concept of balance. She is keen to help clients explore and understand their own unique patterns of ‘being’ or ‘perspective’ and drawing on a range of different therapeutic approaches work with them to make whatever changes they feel are helpful.

Morna is a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
