Assistant Director (Wellbeing)

Claire joins the Student Services this year as an Assistant Director to the Directorate Team,  supporting the work of the Wellbeing Advisors.

Claire studied Psychology at the University of St Andrews and has enjoyed a successful career in Education, working as a head teacher and an education advisor in Scotland and abroad.

After having trained as a professional coach, Claire has worked for the last five years providing her own coaching and wellbeing service for school teachers and school leaders throughout Scotland. She has provided advice and support to Education Scotland, the General Teaching Council of Scotland and other national education bodies.  Claire has continued her studies and interest in mental health by studying an MSc in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College, London.

Claire takes a person-centred approach to ensure that her coaching meets the needs of students.   She is passionate about how students can use the principles of positive psychology to flourish in their studies and in their wider lives. Claire believes that coaching conversations allow students to have the necessary time and space to explore possibilities in thinking, performing and living well.
