Mental Health Coordinator
Carole has recently joined Student Services as a Mental Health Coordinator. As a part of the wider team, she will be providing support for students living with mental health conditions and those in crisis.
Carole qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1983 and has worked in a variety of settings within NHS and Social Work. More recently she has had specialist roles working with people who are living with severe and enduring complex mental health issues. At present she continues to work for NHS Fife Mental Health Services two days a week and works for student services on a Tuesday and Friday. Carole is really looking forward to working in partnership with staff, students and local services at St Andrews in order to promote mental well-being.
Carole is keen to promote the value of Mindfulness Based Stress reduction techniques in terms of improving and maintaining our Mental Health. She has started to run Mindfulness workshops on a Tuesday evening during Term-Time at Eden Court, to which students are very welcome.
On a personal note Carole loves to be creative, making jewellery and windchimes from sea glass and driftwood found on the beaches along the Coastal path. The therapeutic value of using creative skills is something Carole feels passionate about and is always happy to suggest ways of finding your inner crafter.
