Student visas are managed by Student Services and further information can be obtained from the Advice and Support Centre on extension 2020 or at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/adult-students/.

Working under a Student visa

Visa holders are eligible to work, without the need to obtain further permission from the UKVI, as follows:

Student visa

Migrant students are allowed to

• work for up to 20 hours per week during term time
• work full-time during vacation periods.

Doctorate Extension Scheme

Migrants holding a Doctorate Extension Scheme are eligible work full time at the University.  The Scheme allows migrants to stay in the UK for 12 months after their course has ended to gain further experience in your chosen field, undertake skilled work, or develop plans to set up as an entrepreneur.  To qualify for the Doctorate Extension Scheme you must meet certain criteria.  The scheme is a sponsored scheme and your current Student-visa sponsor must agree to continue sponsoring you while you are on the scheme.
