Introduction

The benchmark for determining the number of persons likely to use University premises is the Occupancy Load Factor and the number of required fire exits as detailed by the Building Standards (Scotland) Regulations 1990 as amended in 2001.

University premises

Lower College Hall

Floor area of Lower College Hall is approximately 220 square metres.

Use as:

  • Assembly Hall (Standing) - Permitted number of persons 440
  • Dance Hall (No of tables etc) - Permitted number of persons - 330
  • Dining Hall - Permitted number of persons - 220
  • Exhibition Hall - Permitted number of persons - 150
  • Examination and Teaching Hall (to allow for circulation of persons)- Permitted number of persons - 220

Upper College Hall

Floor area of Upper College Hall is approximately 220 square metres.

Use as:

  • Assembly Hall (Standing) - Permitted number of persons 440
  • Dance Hall (No of tables etc) - Permitted number of persons - 330
  • Dining Hall - Permitted number of persons - 220
  • Exhibition Hall - Permitted number of persons - 150
  • Examination and Teaching Hall (to allow for circulation of persons)- Permitted number of persons - 220

Parliament Hall

Floor area of Parliament Hall is approximately 140 square metres.

Use as:

  • Assembly Hall (Standing) - Permitted number of persons 280
  • Dance Hall (No of tables etc) - Permitted number of persons - 200
  • Dining Hall - Permitted number of persons - 140
  • Exhibition Hall - Permitted number of persons - 95
  • Examination and Teaching Hall (to allow for circulation of persons)- Permitted number of persons - 140

Younger Hall

Floor area of Younger Hall is approximately 250 square metres.

Use as:

  • Assembly Hall (Standing) - Permitted number of persons 500
  • Dance Hall (No of tables etc) - Permitted number of persons - 360
  • Dining Hall - Permitted number of persons - 250
  • Exhibition Hall - Permitted number of persons - 170
  • Examination and Teaching Hall (to allow for circulation of persons)- Permitted number of persons - 250
