What is Korfball?
Korfball is a fast-paced, mixed-gender ball sport, originally developed in the Netherlands. As one of the only properly mixed-gender team sports, Korfball has a unique dynamic: teams consist of 8 players (4 male and 4 female) and the objective is to score more points than the opposition. Points are scored by shooting through a hoop that is 3.5m high; half a metre higher than both Basketball and Netball nets and without a backboard. Defending rules and controlled contact make this an exciting sport that requires quick thinking and sharp changes in direction - the only real way to understand it is to come along and try it out!

Opportunities to compete
If you have more of a competitive nature there are plenty of opportunities to compete, in both the 1st and 2nd Teams. The club currently has two teams competing in the Scottish Korfball League, with matches on most weekends. In addition the club attends BUCS competitions every year and plays against teams from universities all over the UK. The club also goes along to a number of other more relaxed tournaments, and even hosts an annual Beach Tournament, a particular highlight of our Korfball calendar; rain or shine, you can’t beat beach Korfball!
