Clay Pigeon 700

Introduction

The University of St Andrews Clay Pigeon Shooting Club prides itself on being one of the most active and welcoming clubs in St Andrews, whether you’re a seasoned shot or you’ve yet to pick up a gun. The Club practices at Auchterhouse Country Sports twice a week, competes in all inter-university fixtures, and hosts the annual St Andrews Challenge, as well as the infamous Welly Ball.

Training

Training sessions are held every Wednesday and Saturday at Auchterhouse Country Sports; these sessions are very informal, and we encourage you to attend whatever your ability. Coaching is provided by committee members. The Club leaves from outside the Students Union at 1:00pm on Wednesday and at 12:00noon on Saturday.

Coaching

The Club has access to Commonwealth Games finalist Drew Christie, whose tuition led them to victory in the 2008 BUCS Championships and 2010 Agricultural Block Fixture. Free coaching is also provided by the club committee to all members.

Teams & Competitions

The club currently does not compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships, but hosts the St Andrews Challenge each November for 140 shots from across the country. In 2014-15, St Andrews entered 4 Mens teams and 5 Ladies teams.

Recreational Sessions

All training sessions are open to all levels, with the exception of those preceding competitions, when more focused coaching is provided for those due to compete.
