performance netball

Saints Netball is a club that has seen itself double in size since it made the new Sports Arena its home for training and matches.  The environment is professional, inspiring and has enabled the club to deliver the enhanced, player centred, more progressive and inclusive programme for more Saints Netballers than ever before.

Saints Netball caters for all abilities and motivations. Whether you want some fun and make friends, develop or enhance your fitness or be apart of a more structured netball programme with regular competition we have something for everyone at Saints Netball.

The programme runs throughout the academic year, with the players returning early before each term for Pre-season and Mid-season training.  There are split training sessions during the week to ensure players get the most out of their practice time on court.  There are also separate sessions for shooters as we all know you can’t win games without scoring goals.  Fitness is a big thing for the club and most players enjoy a love hate relationship with this aspect of the programme!  Whether it’s a Monday morning fitness blitz, a spinning session or a gym based boost, the club offer a variety of ways for players to stay in peak fitness.  Video Analysis is now a big focus for the club and a powerful way for players to receive feedback.  Saints Netball are fortunate to have time with a Strength and Conditioning coach each week, further sport science support and there is access to physios should players need to see a specialist.

Competitive Netball

Saints Netball now boasts five teams who compete each week in the BUCS leagues.  The teams span divisions 1A to 7A and the club enter teams into all Scottish Student Netball tournaments.  Saints Netball also has a Development Squad who play regular fixtures throughout the year.  Saints Netball is now broadening its approach to competition as we make more National, Netball Scotland led competitions apart of our season.

Social Netball

Its not all about training and competing.  Saints Netball pride themselves on being a club that provides something for everyone.  If you want to just turn up and play, keep fit, make friends and play some netball then the Social Netball Session is for you.

Off the court, there is always something going on.  Saints Netball is a social club who look after their members and the community that they are proud to be apart of. For more information about the club please visit our website: www.saints-netball.com

Saints Netball are always looking for new players with the right attitude to join the club. If you are coming to St Andrews, or you are thinking about joining, then please get in touch. When you start life as a student in St Andrews there is always a lot going on. Make sure you find the netball gals at the Sports Fayre in Freshers' Week and sign yourself up for the give it a go session and the trials. The trials, as daunting as they sound, are not something to be intimidated by. Most people enjoy them. You do some skills and then play as much netball as possible! There is a pathway for everyone, whether its joining a squad who play competitively each week in BUCS, or social netball and the opportunity to play for the Development team. Whatever your aspiration or motivation, Saints Netball have got it covered.
