The Saints Golf programme is open to all students, whatever your standard of ability or level of commitment. There are varying degrees of membership available from beginners who want to learn, those with a handicap who want to take part in weekly internal competitions and possibly represent the University in matches, to those who are at the performance end of the spectrum. We compete domestically in the UK through British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), running four mixed teams to cater for a range of goling abilities, and arrange friendly matches against prestigious golf clubs across Britain. Individually, those who commit to our “tournament programme”, and are of a high enough standard, will be put forward to compete in the BUCS tour and the newly created R&A tour.

Ladies Golf Club
The Ladies Golf Club is passionate about supporting young female golfers and provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for beginners and higher handicapped players. The club runs a hugely successful and well established lesson programme in partnership with the Links Academy and has a goal to get more girls involved in the game.
Lessons take place everyday of the week during term time at the Links Academy. For more information please contact the Ladies Golf Club.
Teams and Competitions
The club receives coaching from Scott Herald, a St Andrews PGA Professional, and also train together outside of coaching time. At the moment this team is working on building a strong field of players so that it can be entered into BUCS in the coming years. The Second Team, Ladies who want to play social golf and players working on getting their handicap, form the club’s Social Club, which is aimed at helping promote the enjoyment and friendly team aspect of the game. The social club plays in medals together, sign cards for players getting their handicap and practice together, often followed by a coffee or a few drinks in town.
The Club runs lessons for people who are just starting golf all the way through to players working on getting their handicap. Some of these lessons take place on the range, whilst others take Ladies out onto the course to help them with all aspects of the game.
Outreach and Charity
The Ladies’ Golf Club runs the University of St Andrews School Girls Championship every September which attracts payers from all over the world to compete over two days in the Home of Golf. It is open to School and University Students. The club also runs an annual charity tournament with the proceeds going to local charities.
