Saints represented at the World Under 24 Ultimate Championships

Seven St Andrews Ultimate Athletes (six representing Great Britain, and one representing Ireland) journeyed down to Australia in January 2018 to participate in the WFDF World Under 24 Ultimate Championships.
Gabriela Starek has said that “being a part of the Great Britain national team made up for all those early morning gym workouts and exhausting sprint sessions. I think it all sunk in when I stepped on the pitch for our first game against Columbia. The realisation of playing against the world's best players was something I never imagined I would have the opportunity to participate in. Of course, as with any important game you have moments where you get nervous, especially right before it all begins. But the support of my team helped immensely, and I couldn't have asked for a better group of teammates to share these experiences with. Such a great bunch of people, who I already can’t wait to see again at upcoming tournaments!
“The atmosphere of this event is indescribable- everyone from around the world gathering to celebrate a sport we all share a passion for. We had some very tight games throughout the week, with tough loses and some amazing comebacks; Singapore we were 3:7 down and took the win 15:9!
“I find the most impressive aspect of ultimate as a sport is the spirit of the game and WU24 was an incredibly positive experience.
“What I have learned from this experience is how far hard work and passion can take you. I would also like to thank the University of St Andrews Athletic Union for all their support during this venture.”
