Saints Sport International Volunteering Projects

Wednesday 19 September 2018

Each summer at Saints Sport we give students the opportunity to volunteer on one of our international volunteering projects: Volunteer Zambia, and Volunteer South Africa.

Volunteer Zambia

The Volunteer Zambia Project is in partnership with 6 other UK Universities who form the Wallace Group. Each university sends 6 students to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, for a 6 week period, where the students work in local communities and compounds delivering generic PE sessions as well as sessions in one of the 4 target sports of Football, Netball, Basketball and Volleyball. At the end of the 6 week placement in Lusaka the students then go to live in a small town caled Liteta or Chongwe for 10 days to experience another more rural part of Zambia

Volunteer South Africa

The Volunteer South Africa Project is a project just for students from St Andrews. Between 6 and 10 students go to Stellenbosch, South Africa for a 5 week period. The students work in a local primay school called Rietenbosch delivering generic PE sessions as well as sport specific sessions in Football, Rugby, Hockey or Netball.
