Clay Pigeon Club - Semester 1 Report 2016-17
Friday 03 February 2017
The Clay Pigeon Club had another fantastic first semester of the year, which included hosting the spectacular St Andrews Challenge. We welcomed around 230 competitors from 17 different universities, who shot on a particularly beautiful day in rural Angus. It was also a very successful day for our Vice President, Kiana Hainsworth, who competed in a shoot-off for overall first place, finishing in third and winning Ladies High Gun. That evening over a thousand guests enjoyed yet another fantastic night at Welly Ball held at Kinkell Byre.
The club has also grown considerably this year, with lots of new members, both first years and those midway through their university life. The Club has been incredibly lucky that a lot of these new shots are very good, to such an extent that we had to add another Men’s team for the Challenge - there were simply too many people that we could not afford to leave behind.
Our relationship with Auchterhouse Country Sports is, as always, brilliant, and we cannot wait to return for more practices and competitions. We are also planning to host a Spring Cup, welcoming competitors from other Scottish universities, on a much smaller scale to the full Challenge. Furthermore, we will host a competition solely for members of the club - a battle for superiority and bragging rights! Here’s to another brilliant semester for the Clay Pigeon Shooting Club.
