Riding Club - Semester 1 Report 2016-17
Saturday 28 January 2017
The Riding Club has enjoyed a very successful first semester this year. We started off with a strong turnout for our pre-season training, which welcomed incoming Freshers to 4th year riders. We used this week to improve our riding both on the flat and over jumps, as well as taking part in Pilates and group bonding exercises. Over the course of the semester we held a number of social events for all our members to enjoy, including our opening and Christmas dinners. This has given all our members the opportunity for greater involvement within the club and was a goal we had set for ourselves at the start of the academic year.
Lesson participation from members this year has been high, with many starting out as beginners and quickly getting to grips with the sport. More seasoned riders have continued to excel under the great instruction provided by our trainers at Drumcarrow Equestrian.
Our teams had successful starts to their BUCS seasons, with our B team opening the season with a successful competition at our home facility, and pulling off a first place victory in the process. The A team also performed well at their first competition in Aberdeen. As a result both teams enter their leagues in a strong position and we hope to continue this over the course of the year.
