Saints Golf, Sweden Training Camp 2013, Halmstad Golf Arena
Monday 27 May 2013
Day 1, Friday 24th May.
For the second year running Saints Golf are visiting our friends at the Scandinavian School of Golf for a spring training camp. This takes place at the wonderful Halmstad Golf Arena, one of the finest practice facilities in the world. This is a real chance for the players to have an intensive weeks practice to get sharp before embarking on their summer schedules.
This year the attendees are as follows;
David Watt – Director of Golf / Head Men’s Coach
Kevin Hale – Head Ladies Coach
Freddie Edmunds – Men’s 1st Team Captain
Tom Beasley – Men’s 1st Team
Gemma Bradbury – Ladies 1st Team Captain
Gabrielle Macdonald – Ladies 1st Team
Miranda Brain – Ladies 1st Team
This year we have decided to strengthen our links with the St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA) by bringing along two of their finest young players, Alasdair Macdougall and Cameron Campbell. This will be a fantastic experience for them and between us all we represent the Home of Golf.
Day 1 was mostly a travel day but when the team finally had dinner they headed out into a glorious summer evening with the theme for the night being to EXPLORE. This facility just breeds creativity and that is what we the focus of the week will be. Coaches Watt and Hale spent time developing a short game test for the next day – difficult but fair! They wanted to benchmark the players now and then see how they progress – short games have to be sharp for the big tournaments coming up.
More to follow – everyone hitting bed early tonight in preparation for a big day tomorrow, the North Course at Halmstad – one of the finest courses in Europe.
