The home of student sport at St Andrews
Are you looking for adventure, competition, excitement, exercise, exhilaration, exploration, fitness, fun, physical activity, team spirit and the ultimate St Andrews student experience? Look no further.
The Athletic Union (AU) is the student organisation for the support and development of university sports clubs. We are run by students, for students, and we are led by a full time student president who dedicates a year away from their studies to University Sport. If you are a student at St Andrews then you are automatically a member of the AU and are welcome to join any of our 60+ Sports Clubs, which currently have over 4,000 members (more than half of the student body).
Sport is a central part of the unique student experience at the University of St Andrews. Our sports clubs offer a massive variety of opportunities to participate, compete and experience a huge variety of sports at all levels. There is something for everyone, whatever your level of fitness or experience, with beginners particularly welcome in all of our clubs.
Students who get involved in AU clubs have access to a host of first class opportunities for personal development, travel, the development of leadership skills, management skills, lifelong friendships and employability.
Come and join the team.
