The university has an institutional license to the web-based Git versioning system Gitlab.

Description

GitLab is a complete DevOps platform, delivered as a single application built on the Git version control system. Gitlab allows you to safely store your source code in a secure, backed up environment. It also hosts a suite of collaboration tools and plugins.

Are there limits to the service?

GitLab should only be used to store source code for software development. It should't be used as an everyday file store like your Home Drive or OneDrive. Visit the file storage page to find out more.

Expertise level required to use this service

May need to read some instructions or be familiar with concepts : there are Software Carpentry workshops available to assist.
