Emory University collaborative research grant
Applications are now closed for 2023.
The University has launched the fourth call of the Collaborative Research Grants programme with the Halle Institute for Global Research, Emory University.
The Collaborative Research Grants programme fosters international research broadly. Applicants from all Schools and disciplines are encouraged to submit funding applications for innovative and sustainable projects built around collaborative research linking staff from the University of St Andrews and Emory University. The research may take place in any country as long as it is done collaboratively.
The expectation is that these initial projects will lead to longer-term collaborations, institutional and research relations, and when applicable, generate publications or external funding for ongoing collaboration.
In 2023, the Collaborative Research Grants programme will fund one application (with at least two principal investigators: one from St Andrews and one from Emory).
The selected application will receive up to £10,000 (GBP) or $13,000 (USD) from their respective institution. These funds must be used primarily for research (broadly defined) and may include travel and related expenses. Proposals may include hosting a seminar, conference, workshop, or symposium as one-line item.
Grants should be spent within the period indicated in the project submission or, as a maximum, within 24 months of receiving the funding.
Applications from academic staff in all Schools are welcome and will be assessed on the basis of:
- academic quality and innovation
- research outcomes
- impact and legacy
- strategic relevance (St Andrews only)
Applications for projects that align with the following St Andrews’ interdisciplinary research priorities are welcome:
- peace, conflict and security
- cultural understanding
- evolution, behaviour and environment
- materials for the modern world
- health, infectious disease and well-being

St Andrews and Emory academic staff are invited to submit proposals for collaborative research projects using the application submission procedure outlined in the Emory-St Andrews CRG guidelines 2023 (PDF).
