Origins of mind facilities

Members of the Origins of Mind grouping conduct research in numerous locations, including field sites in Africa, Canada and South America, and at the Living Links to Human Evolution centre at Edinburgh zoo. Researchers in this grouping also conduct studies on human beings, using the School’s human experimental testing facilities, including studies in the Baby and Child Lab.

The Living Links Centre houses two species of non-human primates (capuchins and squirrel monkeys), and the general public are able to watch observational studies on the monkey groups in progress. The Origins of Mind group manages the scientific work of the Budongo Conservation Field Station, a long-term project in the Budongo forest, Uganda. You can follow the daily work of the researchers via the Budongo blog.
