Amit Chouhan

A qualified electrical engineer who is trained as a neuroscientist and has developed efficient human iPSC and Drosophila models of neurological disorders for genetic & drug screening. I am currently in my 3rd year of PhD and will be extending my PhD to 4th year from September 2018.  I am supervised by Dr. Gareth Miles, investigating motoneuron-astrocyte crosstalk, and deciphering mechanisms underlying the dysfunction of motoneurons derived from ALS patient iPSCs. I am skilled in electrophysiology and calcium imaging techniques and currently utilizing them to develop high throughput drug screening assays. As part of NC3Rs funded CRACK IT challenge, I am involved with functional characterization of human dorsal root ganglion neurons derived from human organ donors.
