Over 900 students from across the world gathered at the University this week for winter graduation.

Graduates from Scotland, China, Nigeria, Germany and the USA, to name just a few countries, received their academic awards in the Younger Hall on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December.

Three leading figures from the worlds of science and political theory were also honoured: Professor Dame Sue Black OBE, Director of the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification and the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Dundee; Professor Michael Ferguson CBE, Regius Professor of Life Sciences and Academic Lead for Research Strategy, School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee; and Professor Roger Smith, world-renowned political theorist and genocide scholar and Emeritus Professor of Government at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Two special honorary degrees were conferred on former members of staff with a combined total of 81 years’ service to the University: Aileen Colford and Donna James worked in the graduation office for 41 and 40 years respectively.
