School of Physics & Astronomy

Prospective Undergraduates

Welcome to the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews.  St Andrews is Scotland's first university, set within a beautiful small town on the Fife coast, just north of Edinburgh. Inspections of our teaching of physics have provided positive reports. Our research groups have a strong international profile with the 2015 Research Excellence Framework putting the quality of our research (submitted joint with our partners in Edinburgh) fourth in the UK.   Our BSc honours degrees normally 3 or 4 years to complete, and the MPhys and MSci 4 or 5, depending on point of entry.
