Scholarships and Bursaries

Entrance scholarships from the School

The School offers a number of entrance scholarships, each of up to £1000, to entrant students on our first-degree programmes, based primarily on financial need. We also offer needs-based entrance scholarships of up to £4000 to students on the Gateway to Physics and Astronomy programme.


University Scholarships

The University runs a number of scholarship schemes, which have had awards of up to £3000 per year.  Some are open to all students, and some are aimed at particular subjects or geographical areas. The latter may include the Adam Smith Thomson bursaries for former pupils of Forfar Academy coming to study mathematical or physical sciences at St Andrews, and the Donald Malcolm MacArthur scholarships for students from Lewis and Harris studying in our Faculty of Science.
