ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management

We are launching a new ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for University staff in February 2020. The ILM is the UK’s leading provider of specialist leadership qualifications and certifies over 70,000 leaders and managers each year.

This two-year programme is targeted at managers who are motivated to further develop and consolidate their leadership skills. The units in the programme are:

Assessing Your Own Leadership Capability and Performance
Leading Innovation and change
Making a Financial Business case
Managing meetings
Making professional presentations
Managing individual development
Managing recruitment
Managing stress and conflict in the organisation
Motivating people in the workplace
Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective management coaching and mentoring

Pre-requisites for participation will be completion of the ‘Passport to Management Excellence’ and/ or participation as a Volunteer Zambia student experience leader.

Application process

Eligibility

To apply for a place on the programme, applicants must:

Be a graduate from the ‘Passport to Management Excellence’ and have line management/supervisory responsibility, or
Be a Volunteer Zambia student experience leader

And

Have the approval and support of their line manager

Application and selection

Applications will be accepted through the online application form. This includes a statement from the applicant explaining why they should be given a place on the programme and a separate manager's support form from their line manager should also be completed.

Applicants will be selected for places on the basis of:

1. Eligibility (see above)

2. The application form

3. The line manager’s support form.

We would like good representation from across different Schools and Service Units, so where there are multiple applicants from the same School/Unit, we may ask the Head of School/Unit to prioritise the applications.
