The Convenor of the SoML Year-Abroad Committee is Dr Turner vct2@st-andrews.ac.uk +44-1334-463654. You can use this contact for general questions.

The Year-Abroad Administrator is Michael Loudon modlangs@st-andrews.ac.uk +44-1334-463656. You can contact him if you are not sure to whom you need to talk. He will direct you to the right person.

While you are abroad as a Teaching Assistant you will have a mentor or appointed responsible person at your school and there will be a local representative of the British Council's partner organisation. You should always talk to them about questions you might have and problems you might encounter.

While you are abroad on an industrial work placement you will have a mentor or 'named contact' in the company or organisation that employs you. You should always talk to them about questions you might have and problems you might encounter.

While you are abroad on a university placement you will have a local departmental co-ordinator for the exchange. You should always talk to them about questions you might have and problems you might encounter. In some cases, a separate ERASMUS+, International or Student Office deals with the administrative side of the exchange. Host universities also usually have an equivalent of Student Services. You should feel free to turn to them with any problems you might have.

Additionally, please inform your departmental co-ordinator (see above) of any major issues to keep them in the loop. In most cases, your local support will be sufficient but it is important that we in St Andrews have a good idea what is going on in the various places where our students are living and working. Also if you are experiencing problems with the people who are supposed to support your locally you should get in touch with your departmental co-ordinator.

If you cannot reach your departmental co-ordinator you can get in touch with SoML School Office who can take your message during normal office hours:

As you will remain a St Andrews student throughout your stay abroad, you should never hesitate to get in touch with any of us.
