Research and Teaching

Claudia graduated with a BA in French and Hispanic Studies and an MLitt in Comparative Literature from the University of Aberdeen before completing a PhD in Hispanic Studies at Aberdeen in 2017. Her research interests lie primarily in the field of Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Life-writing and the European experiences of Fascism with a focus on 20th century Spanish women’s life-writing and literature. She is also particularly interested in the different strategies 20th century right-wing women used to transcend the gender expectations of their time. Claudia is currently preparing a book manuscript and articles based on her PhD research. She contributes to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the Department of Spanish and the School of Modern Languages. Her research-led Honours module is entitled ‘Strange Girls and Domestic Angels: Women’s Writing in Spain’.
