Research activity

Fiona GilmourI am currently working with Dr Rossella Riccobono on a research project that explores the benefits of reading and discussing poetry for people who are in end of life care.

I studied Adult Nursing at Queen Margaret University and graduated in 2016. During my studies I developed an interest for improving people's experiences of health care and this is the focus of my research. I work full time for Four Seasons Health Care as a lead nurse enabling older people to live healthful and fulfilling lives while in long term care.

Below are some of my research projects:

Gilmour, F. and Williams, A. 2018. Support with Nutrition for women receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer. British Journal of Nursing (Oncology Supplement) 27(S4-S9)

Dickson, M., Riddell, H., Gilmour, F. & McCormack, B. 2017. Delivering dignified care: a realist synthesis of evidence that promotes effective listening and learning from older people’s feedback in acute care settings. Journal of Clinical Nursing 26(23-24)

McCormack, B., Dewing, J., Carter, L. Pithie, A. and Gilmour, F. 2017. AgeUK Listening and Learning Pilot Project: Real time feedback from older people in acute care wards. Edinburgh, Queen Margaret University.
