Research and Teaching

My research focuses on modern and contemporary Italian literature, with a specific interest in Italian culture in relation to and within the larger Mediterranean context.

I hold a Doctorate from Italy on Italian colonial literature and culture. My PhD research project focused on Italian colonial travelogues and memoirs, and the results of that research are soon to be published in book format by Aracne Editors.

Before moving to St Andrews, I completed a second Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at Cornell University (NY), with a dissertation on Mediterranean narratives of movement and resistance across Italy and North Africa.

At Cornell, I taught Italian language and culture. I also designed and taught Comparative Literature seminars.
