Education and experience

Juan Mosquera earned a Licenciatura in Geography and History from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in 2005 and a BA Hons in Humanities with Religious Studies from the Open University in 2013. He graduated with a MA in Didactics and Language and Literature, Spanish as a Second Language (2007) from Universidad de Murcia, two MA from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spanish Language: Research and Professional Practices (2012), and Hispanic Literatures: Art, History, and Society (2014), and a MA Erasmus Mundus Crossways in Cultural Narratives (2016) from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, University of Saint Andrews, and Université Via Domitia-Perpignan. Aditionally, he has received training in teaching Spanish as a Second Language (SLE) from International House-Universidad de Barcelona, and Instituto Cervantes.

His experience as teacher of SLE includes teaching at secondary education level at Tömörkény Istvan Gymnasium (2013) in Szeged, Hungary, and at university levels at Universitat Leuphana-Lüneburg (2007), Universidad de A Coruña (2008), and Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (2014).

His research focuses on the work of the contemporary Spanish writer Antonio Muñoz Molina. Previously he has explored topics linked to the author’s understanding of literature and its relation with memory, identity, and art. His PhD research concentrates on Muñoz Molina’s ethical position regarding postmodern society, analysed from the ethical perspective of Emmanuel Levinas.
