Lecturer joins music schools study
Dr Juliette Summers has joined an international team of researchers to study organisations, cultural vitality and community welfare.
The new research focusses on the music education system in the Italian province of Trento. The project is a collaboration between the University of St Andrews, the University of Trento, the University of British Columbia and the Euricse institute.
Based on the idea that music education generates not only skills but also social relations, the study examines music schools and the ways in which they can create capabilities of transformation, inclusion and participation.
The 2-year project is led by Dr Silvia Sacchetti from the University of Trento, and funded by Fondazione Caritro.
