Teaching Awards 2015

Sandra Romenska with her Teaching Award 2015The University of St Andrews and its Student Association organise awards each year for staff and students who have contributed to excellent teaching.

School of Management Co-Heads Lorna Stevenson and Professor Kevin Orr reported:

We are delighted to congratulate four School of Management colleagues who were shortlisted for Students' Association Teaching Awards. The following have had their superb teaching recognised by our students:

- Shiona Chillas (Postgraduate Research Thesis Supervisor)
- Charles Lovatt (Excellence in Teaching – Postgraduate level)
- Matthew Pauley (Teaching Excellence by a Postgraduate Student Who Tutors)
- Sandra Romenska (Excellence in Teaching – Postgraduate level).

This year there were 375 nominations, which makes appearing on the shortlist a notable achievement. We are very proud of the quality of our teaching in the School of Management and of the commitment that all colleagues, not least our administration team, show to the students' experience of their time with us. It is really pleasing to see these contributions recognised.

Matthew and Sandra were winners in their categories.

Sandra said:

I am delighted and very grateful for the award and especially for the privilege to work with the students I had this year, whose active engagement, creativity and commitment made the modules I teach a pleasure to deliver. I really appreciate the supportive and collegiate environment of the School which actively fosters innovative thinking and practice in teaching and learning – a big thank you to all my colleagues.

It is fantastic and humbling to be recognised with this award.  The students here at St Andrews are phenomenally smart, witty and keen on learning - it is they who deserve the recognition.
