Biography/ Research interests

Louis Nguyen is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of St Andrews School of Management. From 2015-2018 Louis was Lecturer in Banking and Finance at the School. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing from the National University of Singapore, an MSc (Distinction) in Accounting, Finance and Management from the University of Bristol, and a PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded the David Hume Publication Prize in 2015 for research excellence and the Accenture Gold Medal & Prize in 2011 for being the top student in the BSc Computing (E-Commerce) program.

Louis' research and teaching interests include empirical corporate finance, financial intermediation, and labor economics. He is also pursuing research in the area of behavioral finance. Louis' work has been published in leading journals across disciplines, including the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Finance, and the British Journal of Management. His research is featured in the Harvard Business Review, BBC, and VoxEU. Louis also has contributed to handbooks published by Wiley and Springer.

He is a regular speaker at international conferences, such as Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS), EUROFIDAI-AFFI and Financial Management Association International (FMA) meetings, as well as meetings organised by central banks, governments, and international organisations including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Dutch Central Bank.
