• Click and collect

  Access the collections held in the Main Library, Martyrs and Walter Bower House

  From Monday 16 May, on Library search, find the item you want and request it using the Click and Collect button, and it will be made available to pick up at St Mary’s College Library on South Street (opening hours 9am – 8.30pm, 7 days). There will continue to be items available to borrow directly from the site libraries in JF Allen and King James, and so a Click and Collect button will not appear for these.

  You can request 5 items each day through Click and Collect, and borrowing limits have been increased.

  After you have made a request, we will aim to have the items ready for you the next weekday, but this is dependent on demand. If you make a request on Friday, items should be ready Monday or Tuesday the next week. You will be emailed once the item is available for you at St Mary’s and we will keep it for you, ready to be collected, for 5 days.

• Request a scan

  Request a scan of a chapter of a book or journal article.

  From Monday 16 May, request a scan of a chapter of a book or journal article from the collections held in the Main Library, Martyrs and Walter Bower House. You will see a ‘Request a scan’ button next to available items on Library search. Scanned items are emailed directly to you.

  Please be aware that the amount of content we can scan for you is restricted by copyright legislation (10% of a book, typically one chapter or 1 article in a journal issue).

  Borrow

  Borrowing limits for University staff and students have been raised. 

  Pick up your Click and Collect item from St Mary's College Library or select a book from the King James Library and use the self-service machine to borrow. 

  You can also borrow items directly from the JF Allen Library on the North Haugh and Walter Bower House Library on Eden Campus.

   

  Return

  Use the self-service machines in St Mary's College Library, JF Allen Library and Walter Bower House Library to return items. 

  There is an external book drop post box outside the entrance to St Mary's College Library. 

   

  Recall

  All items continue to be subject to recall.

  If the item you need is out on loan, recall it. When it is available for you, we'll email your University account and you can collect the item from St Mary's College Library.

  If an item you have borrowed is recalled, you will have 7 days to return this to us.

• Inter-Library Loan

  Library staff can source materials from other libraries

  If we don't have an item you need, make an Inter-Library Loan request and Library staff will source materials from other libraries. In most cases these can be emailed to you. If an item can be borrowed, from Monday 16 May you can collect it from St Mary's College Library Service Desk.

• Study spaces

  Information about study spaces and other facilities.

  Check the Library spaces page for detailed information about opening times and facilities. 

  Check the interactive map for directions to different buildings and the AccessAble website for information about physical access to key University buildings.  

  If you need a printer, check the locations in PC classrooms. 

   

• Library and IT help

  Talk to staff in-person or online

  Service Desks for IT and Library help will be available in St Mary’s College Library.

  The Library help together with the IT Service Desk will be open 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday and then Saturday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm.

  If you have a more detailed question or would like advice on using the Library’s collections, sourcing materials for your dissertation/thesis or research or using reference management software you can book a one-to-one appointment on Teams with an Academic Liaison Librarian. • University collections and Napier Reading Room

  Accessing rare books, manuscripts, photography and museum objects

  Once you have found the items you want on the search, book a date and time. The Napier Reading Room is open Tuesday to Thursday each week, 10am until 4pm.
