Essential preservation work to be carried out

Special Collections will be closed to visitors from 4.30pm on Thurs 21 Dec 2017 and will re-open at 9.30am on Mon 22 Jan 2018. The closure also includes the University's Christmas closure days (22 December 2017 to 3 January 2018.).

The closure is to accommodate all staff working in the store areas, re-organising collections and undertaking essential preservation activities. This crucial work aims to make the retrieval of collections more efficient, and provide a better service for visitors.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our temporary closure. We will continue to manage enquiries, please email speccoll@st-andrews.ac.uk  we will respond to you as quickly as possible.

If you wish to consult items in the Napier Reading Room in the Richardson Research Library at Martyrs Kirk, on North Street, you can make an appointment either by completing the form below, emailing at speccoll@st-andrews.ac.uk, or calling on (01334) 467380.

Please include your preferred date, giving at least 1 working day's notice (we do not open on Saturday or Sunday) and as much detail as you can of what you'd like to consult, including reference numbers, if known. All the collections have been re-located, and some are now out-stored. A small amount of material may be unavailable or may take up to 48 hours to retrieve, and there may also have to be limits on how much material can be consulted at any one time.

Staff will discuss with you an appropriate time and duration for your visit. Directions to the Reading Room will be supplied when bookings are made, or you can check our map.
