Towards a comprehensive collection of Scottish documentary photobooks
Wednesday 25 March 2015
The Library has been very busy in the past six months establishing what seems likely to become the most comprehensive collection of Scottish documentary photobooks in a University collection.
Recent acquisitions sourced by the Rare Books and Photographic teams include books documenting urban and rural life (and all that in-between, too) from the mid-20th century to date. Highlights include every printed work which Oscar Marzaroli, Joseph McKenzie and David Peat contributed to; all of the works published by Document Scotland; books relating to the outer islands of Scotland in the 70s and 80s (Chick Chalmers, Tom Kidd, Glyn Satterley); and all publications by Café Royal Books which focus on Scotland.
More books are being added to this collection all the time, and all are available for consultation within the Special Collections reading room. If you have any further suggestions for this collection or would like to look at the items we have already acquired, then please do get in touch!
