Images of the Henderson Collection

The University Library received in 2004 the Scottish History and Topography books from the library of the late Professor G P Henderson (his philosophical books have been left to the University of Dundee). Henderson was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Dundee, previously having taught logic and metaphysics at the University of St Andrews and the University of Dundee. He held B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Oxford and an M.A. from the University of St Andrews, and was an editor of The Philosophical Quarterly.

The books date from the 16th to the 20th centuries, and contain many beautiful illustrations. This collection of about 300 books has yet to be classified or catalogued, but can be accessed by contacting Special Collections.
