Family and estate papers

Images of the Family and Estate papers collection

Special Collections holds many collections of family and estate papers, relating mainly to lands in north and east Fife. The brief list of collections in this section is not comprehensive, and individually describes only the larger and more significant collections. We are working to include full lists of these collections, and a note of the current status of the finding aid is given with each collection. We also hold genealogical information relating to various Fife families. Please search the online catalogue for the names you are interested in, bearing in mind that there can be several variant spellings for each name.

The collections vary greatly in size and content but are likely to contain title deeds, financial papers, accounts, receipts, ledgers and logbooks, letterbooks, family correspondence, diaries, travel journals, photographs, and other personal items.
