Research Software and Programming

The applications developers in the Library’s Digital Humanities and Research Computing team have extensive research programming experience and will be happy to work with you to develop whatever software your project may require.   The team aims to design high-quality software for research colleagues in any subject area, and to ensure that recognised standards and best practices are observed.

Staff have expertise in a range of programming languages including C, Java, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, Python and Ruby, and can use XML technologies such as OWL, RDF, SVG, XForms and XSLT.  They are experienced in cross browser web development, and can work with a range of database technologies.  They are also familiar with a variety of metadata standards including DC, METS, MODS, PREMIS, TEI and VRA.   If your data is to be made public, the team can design impactful, data-driven websites on which to present it.
