As we continue to expand our collections with new titles and new editions we need to make room to hold them in the Main University Library. To do this we move items which have been borrowed less frequently from the open shelves to the Library Store.
In addition we are now using a process of “quick cataloguing”; making new purchases easily available for recall and borrowing at a much earlier date. This does mean that a proportion of new material is shelved in the Library Store but it can be recalled in the usual way and with the same prompt service.
Although these items are in the Library store, you can still borrow them!
Books and periodicals with their location marked as 'Main Library Store' are located in the Library Store. Books and periodicals available to be requested will have their status marked as 'Request from Store'.
If you request a book from the Library Store Monday-Thursday, your book should be ready the next day. Requests placed Friday-Sunday should be available on Monday. We aim for a speedy service!
We keep books for you on the hold shelf for five days.
How to request an item:
1. Search the Library collections.
2. Check if the item shows as Request from Store.
3. Click on the Request button.
4. Select the item you want.
5. Click submit and confirmation of your request will show on screen.
6. Collect your item from the hold shelf in the Main Library's Short Loan area.
Check your library record or University email for notification. If we have any problems fulfilling your request we will email you.
If you have difficulties requesting an item or you'd like more information, please ask at the Library Service Desk, give us a call (+44 (0)1334 462331/2), or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
