Centre for Amerindian Studies (CAS) Collection
The CAS Collection originated in the University's Centre for Amerindian, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and was integrated into the Main Library's stock between 2010 and 2011.
The collection is mainly borrowable, and comprises 2832 monographs and 2490 periodical parts. It embraces a wide range of subject areas, mostly relating to Central and South America, and specialising in anthropology and languages. Much of the collection is in English, with significant amounts in Spanish and Portuguese and some works in Amerindian languages.
Some items were donated by the late Rev. Douglas Gifford, while a significant number of monographs and periodicals were given by Professor Joanna Overing.
Material is fully integrated into the University Library's main collection, each monographic volume or periodical run being located with those on similar subjects, so that readers can browse additional relevant titles.
