Departmental libraries

In addition to the Main Library in North Street, the University of St Andrews Library administers and staffs several departmental libraries throughout the University.

JF Allen Library (Physics & Astronomy, Mathematics & Statistics, Computer Science)

Dr Ettie Stewart Steele Reading Room (Purdie Building, School of Chemistry)

St Mary's College Library (Divinity, Mediaeval History, Honours Psychology). Incorporates the historic King James Library.

The Richardson Research Library at Martyrs Kirk. Incorporates the Special Collections Napier Reading Room and the Thomson Research Reading Room for Postgraduate students and staff.

Art History

Visual resources collection

Opening times: Monday-Friday, 09.00-13.00, 14.00-17-00 (normally)

Mainly intended for use by staff and students of the School (others admitted with permission of the Visual Resources Curator).

Centre for Amerindian Studies (CAS)

Wednesday: 09.00-10.00, 14.00-15.00
Friday: 09.00-10.00, 14.00-17.00

The CAS Library can be found on the top floor of St Salvator's Quad. Go through entrance to School VI, the follow signs for CAS Library.

Mainly intended for use by postgraduate students of the Centre (Any member of the University Library also admitted).

Classics

Class Library Swallowgate, Room S6, open to undergraduates Monday – Friday from 9-5 during semester. Works on a self- service issue and return basis. School of Classics Library

Philosophy

Opening times: Vacation and semester when the building is open, Monday-Friday, 09.00-17.00.

Mainly intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Philosophy (University staff also admitted with permission; also student members of the University Library, if registered with Philosophy Department Librarian).
