ResNet Overview

All study bedrooms in halls have a cabled network socket for access to ResNet as well as access to the University wireless service "Eduroam. Students may only register one device for connection to the cabled services, however the wireless network will allow students to use multiple computers and/or mobile devices.  You are responsible for the health and protection of your computer and though we maintain a high level of security of this network we may be required to terminate your connection should we identify compromised machines on our network.

Charges:

Please note that charges for ResNet are included in the hall of residence fees, no additional charges will be made for connection to this service, unless you misuse the network services that are being made available to you.

Routers and VOIP Phones:

Please note that students are not permitted to connect their own wireless routers in their study bedrooms, such devices can cause disruption to our network and may result in the requirement to suspend of your network connection. You will also be unable to connect to an External Service Provider from your room through the phone line and we advise students against bringing VOIP hardware phones as it will not be possible for us to enable telephone services for these devices.
