Creating web pages

The University's institutional web pages are managed centrally using Terminalfour's Site Manager software.  Each school and unit has one or more staff members who are responsible for the school or unit's web presence, and if you have questions about your school or unit's web presence you should address them first to these colleagues.

In addition, staff are entitled to create web pages for themselves or for groups with which they are associated.  You can apply to the IT Service Desk for space on the University web server for yourself or for a group. The integration of your personal or group web pages within your school or unit's web representation is something your should discuss within your school or unit. If you want to publish your own personal or research group web pages on the University web server, contact the IT Service Desk with a request to set up web space for you.

IT Services recommend that anyone creating web pages separately from the University CMS ought to learn at least the rudiments of the basic web-authoring language HTML, even though most people will eventually use some sort of visual web-authoring program. The supported HTML editor within the University is Macromedia Dreamweaver.

CAPOD organise regular training sessions including web authoring and web publishing.
