The British Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) defines the creative industries as “those industries which have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property” (DCMS, Creative Industries Mapping Document, 2001). The following 13 industries are commonly included: advertising, architecture, art and antiques, computer games, crafts, design, designer fashion, film and video, music, performing arts, publishing, software, TV and radio.
