Captain David Bryson, one time merchant of Edinburgh, was commander of a French privateer (perhaps the Serpent). In 1678, Bryson was accused by John Wardlaw of Aberdeen of defrauding Wardlaw, claiming to be the factor of John Tait of Prestonpans and stealing £217 13s from him and owing him an additional £27 sterling.
