George Kincaid was a Scottish merchant in Veere who helped to raise and finance companies of Scottish soldiers in the 1570s for the Prince of Orange. In 1573, he lent money to Colonel Henry Balfour and around the same time he received an obligation from Colonel Andrew Ormiston for £3887 to transport soldiers to the Low Countries. In 1575 he was recommended by Orange for helping to raise these soldiers. In 1589, on the death of Scottish conservator George Halkett, Kincaid was recommended for the conservatorship but was passed up in favor of someone ‘mair qualefeit.’
