Text source
William Guthrie, the son of his namesake [SSNE 798], became a burgess in Stockholm on 20 October 1660. William was appointed as the interpreter for the Scottish and English languages by the Magistrates of Stockholm on 7 July 1680. He was also a Public Notary. He may have been the same as William Guthrie noted in the Gothenburg shipping registers as freighting goods to Leith in 1667. If this man was the father of Jakob Gutherie the soldier, then his wife's name was Margareta Dargeman. Their son was born in 1685 and went on to become a major in the armyStockholm Stadsarkiv: Borgare i Stockholm. Register 1651-1688, p.77; T.
