William Proude was an English officer in the first regiment of the Anglo-Dutch Brigade. During his tenure in the Republic he held the following ranks:

 

Sergeant-major: 1614-24 January 1632

Lieutenant-colonel: 24 January 1632-23 July 1632

 

Proude was killed on 23 July 1632 at the siege of Maastricht, when he was replaced by Thomas Culpepper [SSNE 8166].
