Captain John Pentland was a Scottish officer in Dutch service in the 1570s. He appears in the pay lists of Holland for 1573-1574 and 1575-1577. On 4 September 1574, he and his company, along with that of Captain James Blair [SSNE 8139] were ordered to Delfshaven to replace Captain Morgan's company.
