LAGAN, [SSNE 8125]
Text source
Captain Lagan or Liggins was an Irish captain in Dutch service in the 1570s. He appears in the pay lists of Holland for 1573, but his company was apparently depleted by 1574 (Ferguson, p. 36; Trim, p. 444). Trim writes that in 1575 he was transferred to Captain Gainsford's [SSNE 8127] company as "gentleman volunteer," before successfully raising a new company of 200 men for service in 1578. Liggins was killed in action at Rijmenam later that year (Trim, p. 445).
