In July 1613, Robert Coutts signed the album of Thomas Cumming as a lieutenant in ‘belgas’. Later Robert Coutts was a captain in the regiment of Colonel Brog [SSNE 7842] from 1615-1621. He succeeded Captain Henry Balfour on 4 August 1615 and from 1617-1618 commanded 70 men with a salary of £1059. In 1621 he commanded 120 men with a salary of £1655 but was dead by 1628. He was succeeded by Captain William Drummond [SSNE 8010].
